Platinum Pias Date is Set

platinum-pias-logoBreaking news from the 8th Annual Platinum Pias Community Awards Show for Artists front – the date has been set for the program! It is, Monday, March 20, 2017 at 6:30 pm at the Downtown Community Television Center at 87 Lafayette Street, New York, NY.

Yes, we are doing a second year at DCTV. The environment is very conducive to neighborhood gatherings and therefore appropriate for the Platinum Pias. The exciting thing about this ceremony is that it will focus on artists who are making a difference in their NYC and international communities.

For example, the much heralded “Thrillumentary” International Band have been nominated with its members collectively making music from their respective countries.

The performance will again be, as it was last year, at the 7th Annual Pias, a combination of video introductions with live readings of the winners.

Tickets will be available to subscribers of the NYC Make a Difference newsletter.

Art Gush Method of Digital Filmmaking

The Art Gush Method of Digital Filmmaking is alive and well. It looks like Lights Camera Read has hit another home run with this one.

Art Gush will have a presence at this year’s Platinum Pias Community Awards Show for Artists as will the mystery-thriller “Thrillumentary.” “Thrillumentary” is the feature film in development that is the learning tool which Art Gush uses to demonstrate steps to be taken to succeed as a filmmaker.

Art Gush is a new way to make motion pictures. It allows anyone with some knowledge of filmmaking or the arts (and who is good on a computer) to more easily produce full length film.

Lights Camera Read presents New Thrillumentary Video

The new “Thrillumentary” info video has been removed because it is now going to make its world premiere at the Platinum Pias Community Awards Show for Artists on March 20th, 2017 at DCTV in New York City.

But if you still want to hear music by the “Thrillumentary” International Band you might want to check out the new Lights Camera Read donations video. All the music in the video was created by the “Thrillumentary” International Band.

And of course if you are interested in getting tickets to the Platinum Pias, please sign up for the NYC Make a Difference newsletter. When the time comes, tickets will be available exclusively to newsletter subscribers.

Yianni Stamas Unveils Picture of the Thrillumentary International Band

band-music2In a recent article by filmmaker, educator and artist advocate Yianni Stamas, he unveiled the first known picture of the Thrillumentary International Band.

He also disclosed that the group would be one of the nominees in the upcoming Platinum Pias Community Awards Show for Artists, in March, 2017.

The Thrillumentary International Band has been building a buzz because they, as an entity, have never all been in a room at the same time. This is because they collaborate remotely by the internet from all over the globe including Berlin, Bulgaria, England, Ireland, Oregon and New York City. They are making a difference in the international community because they symbolize a united world.

Yianni Stamas talks about Digital Distribution

We asked Filmmaker, Educator and Artist Advocate Yianni Stamas how he plans to distribute the film “Thrillumentary” that he is working on.

This is his response:

If you are making a film with our Art Gush Method of Digital Filmmaking as seen on the Art Gush website, chances are you have the intention to distribute your movie to an audience.

But what is the new distribution path for a film like “Thrillumentary?” Answer: digital film distribution on VOD (Video On Demand). Entities include iTunes, Hulu, Amazon, VuDu, Netflix, Cable VOD and so forth.

It’s easy to get on several of these platforms with a film like “Thrillumentary,” which is a good thing. Why? Because with some of them, every time a person views your film – you get paid. The downside though, is getting viewers there in the first place, ready to buy.

It’s been said that a consumer needs to see up to 12 “impressions” about your movie before they are going to watch a film like “Thrillumentary.” Big Hollywood companies accomplish this goal with extremely large marketing budgets that used to be called P&A (Prints and Advertising).

But how does the small independent filmmaker do it? How does she or he get folks to want to rent online her or his flick?

The answer is digital marketing, which may include, but does not rely on solely, social media. To build visibility for your picture you need to have it all over Google and other search engines. This can be accomplished in part by submitting your film for reviews, networking with blogs/vlogs and doing as much online press as possible.

Thanks Yianni Stamas for your insights!

Yianni Stamas Helms Thrillumentary Project of Creativity and Craft

Yianni Stamas Helms “Thrillumentary”
Project of Creativity and Craft

Platinum Pias founder Yianni Stamas is working on a unique project called “Thrillumentary.”  It has a theater/web/film process involving craft and creativity – and it’s process is up front and center.  For members of the new (since August, 2016) Art Gush website, the exact techniques of making “Thrillumentary” are revealed at the rate of three steps a day.

What makes this particular approach to filmmaking different from others, is that the process is broken down into phases including it being a performance art piece, then a web series and finally a feature film. This project is also relevant to the Platinum Pias because it is involving many artists who are making a difference in their communities. And likely some of these artists will be nominated for Pias during the March, 2018 awards ceremony.

Meanwhile, the Platinum Pias are scheduled for March, 2017, location, date and nominees to be announced soon!

Welcome to the New Platinum Pias Website

webannouncement2Hello and welcome to the new Platinum Pias Community Awards Show website. After being in existence since 2010 we are thrilled to have this fresh and updated site.

PlatinumPias.com.

Coming March, 2017 will be next Platinum Pias and although March seems to be a ways away, it will be upon us soon.

What’s different about the next Platinum Pias Community Awards Show? For one thing, this will be the first year we have an artists-only focus. That’s right, we’re putting the spotlight on actors, pop icons, artist teachers and more who are making a difference in their communities.

The second thing that has not been seen before at a Pias celebration, is the introduction of our Platinum Pias, Lights Camera Read and Art Gush sponsored theater/web/film project: “Thrillumentary.”

In the Pias and LCR tradition, “Thrillumentary” is being evolved with an emphasis on bringing people together through the arts and arts education.

And no site is more arts and arts education oriented than Art Gush. Check the mention on the Art Gush blog that was given regarding the new Pias site.

Watch for more, soon!
